Do you have any plans November 8-13? Hopefully I’ll be attending this.
So everyone wants to make a difference, right? Well that is what War Child Music is doing. They recently released a download only album whose proceeds will benefit children that have been affected by war. This compilation includes fantastic tracks from Radiohead, Gorillaz, Kaiser Chiefs, Belle & Sebastian, The Go! Team, Bloc Party, Maximo Park, Keane, Coldplay, and Damien Rice (among others). It is a worthy cause and the music is fantastic.
I decided to post the Radiohead song in an attempt to entice you all into downloading the War Child compilation which (by the way) is called Help: A Day In The Life. Go get this. You know you want to.
So I went biking yesterday and really enjoyed it. It was just a short little ride mostly along the path that runs along the train tracks (its bumpier than most anywhere else I can go right from my house). It gave me a chance sweat a little and clear my head. I really enjoyed it. I’m thinking about riding somewhere a little more challenging (for Chicagoland) this weekend. Maybe here or here. Any takers?
I took the wife’s car to work yesterday and listened to what she had in the car. Matt Pond PA was among the choices I had. Matt Pond PA is a band and not a person. The singer/songwriter/guitar player for the band just so happens to be named Matt Pond. What a coincidence! They play some damn-fine indie-pop with great melodies and some stellar cello playing. You can pick up their albums from Altitude Records and Polyvinyl Records.

Posting the best-selling song off a charity download album just five days after it came out is NOT cool, dude.
Yeah, I’m with anonymous above me on this…
It isn’t a commercial album designed to make rich people richer here… it’s for a good cause. Shouldn’t be up now… maybe when the CD comes out, whenever that is, but not now.
Whatever, the choice to download is yours. Do the right thing. But there’s no crime in offering a listen. WTF? Eric, are you a heartless bitch? I didn’t think so!
I took part in the download and loved every minute of it….
Shit! I realized that some might take objection at my posting of the Radiohead tune, but I was just trying to sway those who may have been thinking about dl’ing the whole thing. I know I don’t need to defend myself but I removed the post anyways. If you missed it sorry. Just dl the song.
I’m gonna have to agree. Glad to see you took it down. Its only 99p…well worth it really.
I’m not advocating anything but the fact that you should all download the entire thing. Good music for a good cause. Case closed.
i think you should post any music from any album, whether it’s out or not, that you want to. you are a true “promoter” and your passion to introduce others to the music that you like is invigorating. if others don’t see that about you, well, then…that’s really their problem. i wouldnt remove the post, those are just a couple of people’s opinions. the rest of us just want to enjoy the good music.
