I can’t really believe that today is the first Sunday of the NFL season already. The weather has really cooled down here in Chicago so it’s becoming more believable with every passing day. Friday night I headed down to Metro to see Bloomington, IL roots rockers Backyard Tire Fire. They were pretty good, but were (IMHO) outdone by openers Joe Pug and (especially) Ha Ha Tonka, who truly brought the goods. I really like the new BTF record The Places We Lived, but the songs just didn’t really translate to the stage as well as I’d hoped they would. Now on to what everyone else is saying.
Switchblade Comb posted a great little documentary about No Idea Records. Easily one of the best labels around.

Did you know that Birdmonster has a new album? I found out via Speed of Dark who’s got pictures of the band live at The Troubadour in LA.
