To most punks CBGB is this, but here in Chicago (and elsewhere soon I’m sure) it will have a totally different connotation. The Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival happens this weekend at the Congress Theater in Chicago. The lineup features a myriad of great local and national acts and includes the likes of The Avett Brothers, Ha Ha Tonka, The David Grisman Qunitet, Majors Junction, Dollar Store, Blue Mother Tupelo, Mike Mangione, The Giving Tree Band, and ten others.
Imagine that. A manageable, single venue, 18 artist festival that boasts some amazing bands and it sounds like you’ve got some plans for Saturday. Did I mention that there is unlimited re-entry to and from the GBGB Festival until 5pm? The doors open at noon and it goes until midnight (if you don’t count the after-party at the Elbo Room).
And if you really are interested in heading out to the Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival this weekend, leave a comment with your name and email address and you could win a pair of tickets. Winners will be randomly chosen on Thursday.
