Tattoos, Skulls, & Little Girls

When I first opened the door to Hailey’s room yesterday morning I was greeted by a smiling kid who blurted out, “I have a tattoo…and it matches your tattoos!” She was so excited about the temporary tattoo she got at Kidzapalooza on Saturday. I’m sure she was dreaming about tats. Sometimes I do too. She then proceeded to tell me that the hat hanging on her wall had skulls on it and that they matched the skull on my Wilco shirt even though it is only abstractly a skull. Again she was correct. She loves making these connections between objects and how they “match.” I love it too.

One of my 2 year old’s first distinguishable words was tatoo. It nearly brought a tear to my eye.

You should have seen her…she was VERY eager to get that tattoo. No questions asked. Should we be scared?

Yes, start practicing TM now in prep for the day. I remember when Indie Mom was in high school and wild to get a tattoo. The minute she was old enough, she got her first. It took all the fun out of teenage rebellion when I calmly asked what it was instead of hitting the roof.
