Review: The Muggabears – Night Choreography (or) running all over the bulls

The Muggabears are from Brooklyn and aren’t really all that soft or cuddly. Their latest Night Choreography is full of blissfully fuzzed out indie rock that recalls Sonic Youth and Unwound. Loud, noisy, and abrasive describes their bombastic slack-tuned assault. Simply put, it is great and dreamy rock music that’s melodic and almost a bit bluesy but also showcases a band that isn’t afraid to put it all on the line. Night Choreography is a little lo-fi, but freakin’ awesome and raw in the same way that your favorite Sebadoh records are. Highly rec’d for fans of any of the aforementioned bands.
