Who is The Tim Version and what does their record Decline Of The Southern Gentleman have to do with anything? Well, it’s just like me to “officially” review an album after including it on my best of 2008 list (at #47), so here is that too little too late review. Let’s just start by saying that Decline Of The Southern Gentleman was released by No Idea Records earlier this year and (yeah) it would make awesome drinking music.
Just imagine that magical Gainesville punk rock sound filtered though too much whiskey and PBR and classic country music (a little maybe like what Ann Beretta did). Raging guitars and shredded throats that recall the likes of Hot Water Music and/or Leatherface. It’s catchy and abrasive and and gets better every time I listen to it. It would totally be at like #46 or #45 on my list if I made it today. Let’s just say that Decline Of The Southern Gentleman will get plenty of spins at the Casa de CYSTSFTS.
