Taking cues from the likes of The Strokes, The Cure, Tears For Fears, Simple Minds, and more, New York City’s The Red Romance dishes out synth-heavy indie guitar-pop that often sounds more like The Killers than The Killers do (but with less pretense). The band contains former members of Ambulance LTD but it isn’t that “ex-members” tag that is gonna get The Red Romance noticed, it’s the songs.
Their formula is really simple; drums, bass, guitars and a bunch of synths that hearken back to the catchy-as-hell radio pop of the 1980’s all combined into something that just sounds so right. After listening to this, I’m sure that Molly Ringwald needs her panties back once again.
