Like a combination of Wolfie, The Wonders (or the Oneders, whatever you like), Matthew Sweet, and other such sugary sweet indie-pop rock confections, Poughkeepsie, NY’s husband and wife duo The Color Wheels will have you happily bouncing off the walls. With Jon Sebastian on guitar and vocals and wife Psalm handling the drums, the songs on their self-titled debut are so irresistibly charming and cute it’s almost sick. It kinda reminds me of being newlyweds, holding hands, and kissing in public. The songs are uncomplicated and straightforward but the catchy-as-hell sing-along melodies are damn near perfect. Other comparisons I can think of include The Like Young (for obvious reasons), early Weezer, the poppiest Jimmy Eat World songs, or maybe like what Page France might’ve sounded like if they played electric guitars. I also need to mention that Jon Sebastian is also the main guy behind Paper The Operator, oh, and that this is a really good little album.

The Oneders! Good recommendation.
