Review: The Briggs – Come All you Madmen

I’ve hesitated on reviewing this album for awhile now. I figured it was just another homogenized punk record, but I was wrong. Come All You Madmen is actually a pretty enjoyable album that was quite a pleasant surprise. Sure, on Come All You Madmen the Los Angeles-based punks in The Briggs aren’t really aiming for anything other than poppy working-class punk, but they probably do it better than most.

With assistance from some all-star guests from the likes of Bad Religion, The Bosstones, and Flogging Molly, The Briggs bring chugging guitars and big choruses together on Come All You Madmen in a straightforward manner but with just enough hitch in their step to make it sound something like a cross between …And Out Come The Wolves and A Flight And A Crash. Melodic enough to have you singing along in fist-pumping fashion with all your rabble-rousing friends.

It’s not bad. I’ll stick with Destroy The Future for my working class pop punk, though..
