Okay. I thought I had written a review of this record months ago but in searching the site archives totally realized that I never did. very strange since I actually remember writing it. I’m totally losing it. Anyhow, this record, An Evening Of Bad Decisions, from Static Radio NJ, is a damn fine melodic punk rock record. From the get go, An Evening Of Bad Decisions is anchored by buzzing razor-wire guitars, furious drumming, and vocals that make my throat hurt just listening, which all gives way to catchy melodies and hardcore-style breakdowns. Really, it isn’t all that complicated; straightforward yet unredundant tunes played with a ton of energy and passion.
Like I mentioned before, I swear I had this written once before and it was way better than this. And what is with so many great punk bands being from New Brunswick, New Jersey? Seriously. Static Radio NJ is heading out on tour soon so if they are headed to a town near you, check ‘em out. I know I’ll be there when the band plays Chicago in December.
