Review: Mercy Choir – Goodbye Letters EP

Mercy Choir is basically one guy (Paul Belbusti) who plays folk songs based primarily around his acoustic guitar and vocals. These songs were recorded in the living room of his New Haven, Connecticut apartment and have a generally lo-fi feel. There is a sort of darkness to these songs that is only accentuated by some of the creepy effects that were added to the mix. It ain’t bad, just a little creepy. Some of the guitar playing is pretty wicked and the vocals remind me a little of Josh English. As a bonus, Mercy Choir is offering the whole EP for free right here. Kachow!

Hey, I was trying to look for others comments about the new layout (which I know isn’t that new but I’ve been electronically incommunicado for the last month) but I’m not a fan of the new layout. I miss the white due to the fact that I think it’s easier to read and I personally liked the more minimalist aesthetics of the old layout.
