Love In October’s album Pontus, The Devil, And Me is full of major key melodies, many of which have “modern rock radio hit” written all over them. Some of the record spastically twists and turns and reminds me of Cartel but (at times) quirkier and heavier. Maybe even a little like Weezer meets Taking Back Sunday. Jagged spiky guitars, pianos, soaring falsetto vocals, and new-wavey keys abound. Pontus, The Devil, And Me is energetic, (at times) pretty entertaining, but nothing that hasn’t been done before.
