Late last year, I gave the debut full-length from Vancouver’s Living With Lions, Make Your Mark a pretty decent review but I’ve listened to the album many times since then and have really grown fond of it. This was before the band was signed to Adeline Records (Billie Joe from Green Day’s label) and before the label announced they would re-release Make Your Mark as well as the Lions’ 2007 Dude Manor EP. This is a great development as more people need to hear just how good Living With Lions is. They sound kinda like a cross between Dude Ranch-era Blink 182, A Wilhelm Scream, Digger, and sound a ton like Florida’s How Dare You. It’s crunchy sing-a-long melodic post-emo pop-punk that sounds like it’s played by guys who used to be in hardcore bands. Sure, nothing on Dude Manor is revolutionary or complicated or even totally original, but it is a ton of fun and done so well. Dude Manor finds the perfect middle ground where pop-punk isn’t too tame and isn’t overly gritty and (just like I said about their full length) is probably way better than I’ve described it here. I’m no good with words most of the time. The EP will be re-released by Adeline Records on April 7th.

I was digging this as well. Definitely reminded me a a lot of “A Wilhelm Scream”.
