Review: Grand Archives – Grand Archives

So there once was a little band from Seattle called Carissa’s Wierd but they broke up, like, a while ago. When that happened, two of the ex-members (Mat Brooke and Ben Bridwell) formed a group we think is totally aces called Band Of Horses while another ex-member (Sera Cahoone) started a solo career. Perhaps you have heard of ‘em? Anyhow, Mat Brooke evidently didn’t want to be a Horse in a Band anymore so he started a new group called Grand Archives which also features a guy who used to be in Joggers. Oh yeah, all these ex-Carissa’s Wierd bands have their records out on Sub Pop; the Grand Archives record is called, well, Grand Archives and we’re pretty keen on it.

I’m helplessly won over by anything that has a chorus of whistlers in it.
