I’d like to start by saying that Gatorface is a great name for a band. In this case, the Florida-based band Gatorface features two former members (Alex Goldfarb and Richard Minino) of New Mexican Disaster Squad. You’ve heard of ‘em, right? Their debut release is the six song Sick And Stupid EP that was recently released by Paper + Plastick and it would be worth it for the awesome one-sided gold vinyl that features a sweet etching on the flipside and the cover artwork (Minino does some awesome design work as Horsebites) alone. Then we get to the music. Over the course of the Sick And Stupid EP’s 13 minutes, Gatorface unleashes a quick dose of fast-paced melodic punk anthems that are short, sweet, and straight to the point. It is some pretty infectious (and awesome) shit that crosses the line into pop punk territory, but only slightly. If you liked New Mexican Disaster Squad (and basically anything that No Idea puts out) you are almost guaranteed to like this. If you don’t, well… you just might be an idiot.
