Review: Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) – Year Of The Rabbit

Michigan’s Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) is back with a new two song 7” called Year Of The Rabbit that is (as their previous EP was) full of that mid 90’s emo that seems to be coming back into vogue. EEIWALE (what an acronym) is again wonderfully unpolished and imperfect but brutally honest. That honesty and the accompanying flaws are on display here for all the world to hear. Sure it might be “whiny plinky-plink emo” but so can everything that Mineral and American Football released be classified. It’s another solid release from a young band I’m still anxious to hear more from. Full length anyone?
