So here we have the fourth proper full-length from Minneapolis, Minnesota punks in the almighty Dillinger Four. I mean, like, seriously, do I even need to say anything more about this album other than six years is way to fucking long to wait for a new Dillinger Four album. So yeah, I actually stated earlier this evening that I’m not sure I can trust anyone that doesn’t like this band. I’m dead serious about it so instead of actually saying anything about the music (there are MP3’s at the bottom so I’ll let the music do the talking) I’ll tell you a story. Y’all like stories, right?
Once upon a time many years ago… the first time I remember hearing Dillinger Four was on a dubbed cassette tape given to me by Mark Schroeder (formerly of Jump Suit Robbie and The Blackouts/The Living Blue). It contained the Higher Aspirations: Tempered and Dismantled 7” along with Fifteen’s Surprise! and it was totally amazing. I spent hours listening to that on my walks to and from class that year. Yeah, I was listening to a cassette tape (as hard as it might be for today’s digi-kids to believe) in a time before MP3 players, the hugeness of the Internet, and uhh… yeah.
Honestly every single Dillinger Four fan needs to own CIVILWAR and it just might be as good an entry point into the band’s catalog as anything else, so if you don’t have this already, head over to Fat Wreck and pick up a copy of this now. NOW!
