If you are looking for hardcore in the vein of the early Revelation Records releases, look no further than No Consequences, the debut full length from Philadelphia’s Braindead. It delivers ten songs of no-frills hardcore punk in a mere 23 heart-pounding minutes that will (most certainly) have you moving the needle back to the start. Yet for all its driving intensity, No Consequences is all over the hardcore map. Chugging riffs (check), fervent balls-to-the-wall punk pummeling (check), shredding guitar solos (check), atmospheric interludes (check). Some may find the schizophrenic nature of No Consequences to be irritating, but I think that Braindead ties all their varied musical ideas together so well that the album’s diversity is one of its biggest assets. If you love hardcore it will be impossible for you not to find something to love on No Consequences.
