Seriously, how long has this been sitting in “stuff to listen to” pile? A damn long time, I’m sure. So if you might be into a little bit of Southern un-indie rock from England via New Your City that sounds a bit like My Morning Jacket might with a little less Jim James and a little more Ryan Adams, Alberta Cross might be for you. Their mini-album The Thief & The Heartbreaker was released last year and it is a little “jammy” but is peppered with hints of classic rock and pop and some soulful falsetto vocals. It is a loose and mostly un-upbeat affair that would fit nicely in your collection next to Fleetwood Mac or The Band but (really and weirdly) would go just as well with Jim Croce as it would with Radiohead.
