Random things from around the web

So “Certain People I Know” was a single by Morrissey released in December of 1992 and it also happens to be the name of a new band featuring both Bob Nanna and Damon Atkinson of Braid/Hey Mercedes fame. The first two CPIK shows are scheduled for 2/13/09 in Urbana and 2/19/09 in Chicago. See you there.

Someone grabbed MP3’s of the swearing parts from President Obama’s reading of his book Dreams From My Father on tape. Who wouldn’t get a kick out of hearing Obama say, “You ain’t my bitch.”

Our friends from MPLS at the Switchblade Comb blog posted a track from the forthcoming album from CYSTSFTS faves The Evening Rig. We can’t wait to hear more.

So it seems that Sean Bonner posted some MP3’s culled from various Thorns Of Life videos a few days ago but the download link is already expired. That’s Blake from Jawbreaker’s new band which also features Aaron from Crimpshrine (if you didn’t know) so if anyone has these MP3’s and wouldn’t mind passing them along, that would be awesome.

Speaking of Jawbreaker, have you heard Jazzbreaker? It’s a jazzy big band tribute to Jawbreaker that is really interesting and actually pretty cool in a not-at-all-punk sorta way.

And there you have it.
