Pop Punk Junk Vol. 1

My new daughter, Teagan Reese, was born a week ago today and that day also happened to be exactly 4 years from my first post on this blog. During the 4 years that CYSTSFTS has been in existence, I’ve made my affinity for pop punk no secret. It’s the music I grew up listening to and the music that keeps me young at heart. There are many different definitions of what exactly pop punk is and with this series of 30 or so posts I’ll do my best to broadly define (in MP3’s) what pop punk is to me. Enjoy.

So is this like the “best of” pop punk, or just songs that are the best examples of punk with pop influence, or just good F-ing pop punk songs? Sad to see they were posted in autobiographical order, is it more random or counting down from “30 or so”? A great listen, a lot of tunes I hadn’t heard before, but definitely some goodies. Can’t wait for the next round.

Gruppiness, in one word, yes. This is (IMHO) a bunch of great pop punk songs, perhaps the “best” but that’s subjective. One song per band in a basically haphazard and random order. Glad you enjoy.

it’s always nice to be reminded that there are more than two good pop punk bands in the history of the genre, since most of what people remember is the atrocious stuff.
