P Is For Panda Mixtape Vol. 1

So way earlier in the summer I got a copy of the P Is For Panda Mixtape Vol. 1 and then it just sat in my pile of stuff to listen to for a few months. Things like this make me feel like a bit of an idiot. Why? Because it is good. If you didn’t know, P Is For Panda is the new Hopeless imprint (founded by Chad Pearson formerly of the Militia Group) and the “mixtape” is their first release. It features two songs each by eight different artists that includes Andy Shauf, Damion Suomi, Discover America, Gasoline Heart, Josh Moore, J.R. Rund & The Hold Up, Mike Dunn & The Kings Of New England, and Pasadena. What you (the listener) ends up with is 16 songs that fall somewhere along the continental divide separates alt-country from singer-songwriter-y alterna-pop. I’ve really taken a liking to the Mike Dunn and Gasoline Heart tunes, but all in all the P Is For Panda Mixtape Vol. 1 is a pretty mellow (but good) listen.

Even better (though) is that the label is offering it up for free courtesy of Amazon.com. You can nab it here.

i’ve seen 4 of these bands live (Gasoline heart, JR Rund, Pasadena, Mike Dunn & the Kings of New England)
    All are phenomenal bands.
Pasadena, Mike Dunn, and Gasoline Heart all put on spectacular live shows. All 3 are in my top 10 bands.
You can’t go wrong with picking up this free cd or their full albums.

And don’t miss a chance to see them live!

Man, oh man. This blog just keeps getting better.

As a former resident of Orlando, I’m very familiar with Mike and Gasoline Heart. Those dudes understand rock and roll, and I love what they do. Mike’s EP is fantastic.

Also, ‘It Came from the Nineties’ makes my life exponentially better.
