For whatever reason I think that I should probably really like the Texas trio O Pioneers!!! and their newest album Neon Creeps, but it’s really only just OK. I mean, the vocals are hella gruff and the music is a weird cross between folk-punk and what reminds me of Cap’n Jazz sounding emo rock but somehow I can’t get past the fact that there is almost zero melody to be found anywhere on Neon Creeps. It’s pretty fucking annoying after a few songs. Actually, it’s unbearable. There are a few really really food moments on the record but overall, there’s something missing and it’s called melody. The two songs below have more melody than the rest of the songs on Neon Creeps combined. It’s a shame because I really like these two songs.
