It's just part of her becoming more independent and realizing that she doesn't have to do what you say. It's a stage and it will likely pass, replaced by something else, i.e., "I hate homework" or "It's not fair" or "I wish I lived in a different family!" (that's my six year old talking). My daughter's about 2 months younger than yours and is starting to go through the same issues yours is -- formerly a great sleeper, she's started protesting bedtime and waking in the middle of the night calling out for us. Last night I sat on the floor beside her crib and let her fall asleep holding my hand through the bars. Today I am DRAGGING. I'm wondering if it's due to her recent transition to a slightly older kids' room at her daycare, but it could also be the 2x-month phase. Hang in there... She goes through stages where she won't take a nap, wakes up at night, doesn't like to eat certain things, but I think that's typical of kids. I hope that what you guys are going through is a phase, but it's easier to believe that when it's not happening to you. It surely will end soon, and you all will get some much needed sleep.
