If you are looking for some great modern-yet-old-school-sounding hardcore punk you don’t need to look any further than No Friends and their self-titled LP from last year on No Idea. I’m serious. This album has been playing constantly in my car for the last few weeks (along with their new EP). The songs are short in-your-face bursts of anger and fury. The band is made up of Tony Foresta (of Municipal Waste), Sam Johnson (of New Mexican Disaster Squad, Virgins), Richard “Horsebites” Minino (of New Mexican Disaster Squad, Gatorface, None More Black), and Alex Goldfarb (of New Mexican Disaster Squad, Gatorface, Virgins). Need I say more? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
The band also recently released a 6 song EP called Traditional Failures which contains more of the same Black Flag, Dag Nasty, Descendents influenced awesomeness. It’s available for free download from Kiss Of Death Records or as a sweet 12″ vinyl EP. Fuck yeah, this band rules.
