I have to say I agree with everything you wrote. I pre-ordered the album and had some time to get used to the new sound from the six song sampler, but I was still taken aback once I gave the full album a spin.

I was also fortunate enough to catch them play Milwaukee last month, and the live show is as great as ever.

1372 Overton Park IS my most familiar Lucero album and I believe this one has their “breakout” song on it, and they are gonna realize dreams they didn’t even know they had ! That said, I LOVE the older stuff (pre-horns) soooo much! They deserve to get to be rock stars and probably music legends. Nichol’s songs are poetry of our times and lives. These guys are truly what the city of Memphis, TN. could use positively in this time of increasing negativity it is experiencing. They are forever now part of the “it” that defines and furthers Memphis music. We will all benefit as well. Musical genius or damned close as it gets!
