Lolla-pa-losing

For the second year in a row I’m not at Lollapalooza. So fuckin’ what though, right? Yeah, Radiohead is prolly playing as I type this and that is a little bit of a bummer. I also wanted to see Wilco, The Weakerthans, and a few others, but overall, there’s a lot of shit to wade through. I’m also not doing any of the cool “hipster” blogger after parties or any of that shit. Oddly enough, even though I’ve met a few other music bloggers in the “real world” I just don’t feel connected to that whole scene at all. Those folks just don’t understand shitty punk rock basement shows; cheers to those who do. I need more tattoos.

So since I didn’t get press access to Lollapalooza this year (boo fuckin’ hoo for me), I’m headed to Vans Warped Tour tomorrow even though this is easily the worst lineup in the history of VWT. Seriously. Of the 60 or 70 bands that will be at the Chicago Warped Tour tomorrow, there are exact four (4) bands that I really want to see. Are you fucking kidding me? I want to see what the “new” Against Me! sounds like. I’m soooo excited to see Broadway Calls. I also want to see Every Time I Die, Four Year Strong and Beat Union. That’s about it. Sure, All That Remains, Set Your Goals, and Evergreen Terrace would be cool to see, but really I’m only really excited to see four bands.

Maybe it’s the red wine talking, but do I even want to venture out and fight the kids and the heat tomorrow? It makes me sound hella old and jaded, but I just don’t get all the over-produced melodic-post-whatever bands that are all over this year’s Warped Tour. I just don’t get it. I’m old and tired, but I’ll see you there tomorrow.
