Jacob & I is a South Carolina based instrumental post-rock/emo trio without a guitar player. Their Shadout Mapes EP is full of swiftly rolling and intricate mathy music that ebbs and flows and seems to envelop the room. Perfectly controlled, the tightly woven melodies erupt into frenzied bursts at exactly the right moments. The low end rumble is dynamic and propulsive but (somehow) gently twinkling.
