So I’ve never been a huge North Mississippi All-Stars fan and I can’t really tell you why, but after hearing Make A Move, the studio debut from Hill Country Revue, I might just have to listen a little harder. With Luther Dickinson playing guitar in The Black Crowes now, his brother Cody took some of the guys from North Mississippi All-Stars with him and has unleashed Hill Country Revue on us all. The band plays just the sort of dark and greasy Southern-fried blues rock you might expect especially considering that many of the songs here were written by (and feature) R.L. Burnside’s son Garry as well as his brother Duwayne on guitar. The searing and swampy guitar solos seem perfect for hot sweaty nights under the stars. Seriously good, RIYL: Mofro, Allman Brothers, The Eagles, NMAS, etc…
