Higher Giant – Al’s Moustache 7″

Higher Giant’s second EP, Al’s Moustache, is more of the same from this punk/hardcore supergroup. The band features Ernie Parada (of Grey Area), Jason Lehrhoff (of Warzone), Dave Wagenschutz (of Lifetime, Kid Dynamite),and Alex Volonino. The music itself is well-played melodic pop punk rock that (due in large part to Ernie Parada’s distinctive melodic vocals) isn’t terribly different that what you might hear from Grey Area. So if you like Parada’s vocals, great, if not, there’s really no getting around it. The songs are bouncy and anthemic and (overall) Al’s Moustache sounds like an instant classic if you like this kind of stuff. There’s also definitely an East Coast punk flavor to the record.
