Good Old War – Only Way To Be Alone

I saw Good Old War back in April when they opened for The Gaslight Anthem at the Bottom Lounge and I’ve been totally digging their album Only Way To Be Alone since then. It ain’t complicated, but their brand of upbeat folk pop just puts a smile on my face every time I hear it. The trio is from Pennsylvania and there is a timeless and breezy quality about the songs on Only Way To Be Alone that is only made breezier by their awesome vocal harmonies (a little a la Simon & Garfunkel if you will) and the mainly acoustic instrumentation. Seriously, this is one of my favorite records right now and perfect for summer (if it ever decides to make it to Chicago). Highly recommended.
