Review: The Joggers – With A Cape And A Cane (or) From the other side of the world

The Joggers are exactly the kind of thing I needed last week. Their latest record “With A Cape And A Cane” (out now on Startime International) was exactly the sort of melodic skronky post-punk (ala Q And Not U) I needed to shake the cobwebs from my brain and get me back into the groove. Now despite (on first listen) not impressing me terribly, this is a truly fantastic album. It doesn’t (however) come easy. Its a sonic mish-mash of post-punk/new-wave that is brimming with funky bass, dissonant guitars, and thunderous drums. Imagine if Tim Kinsella (Joan Of Arc) and Damon Albarn (Blur) tried to write funk music together. Get the picture?

Yes Jacob your vote counts. It’s just faster to not upload them to the flash player. If there is enough demand (so far only you) I’ll put back up the flash player.
