Day Eight Without Mommy (A Mix)

Eight days already? Has it really been that long? It is a bit hard to believe that me and Hails have been “on our own” for this long. Let’s just say that if we said we wanted mommy to come home, that would be a huge understatement. Huge.

Earlier this week while I was giving Hailey a bath, I could tell that she didn’t want to go to bed. She just wanted to play and play and play some more. Hailey even went so far as to ask me, “Can we watch baseball?” I was actually a bit surprised by her question so I said, “What?” She clarified, “Watch the Cubs.” She is a smart little cookie that knows exactly what to say to get her way; and she ain’t even three.

We were watching the earlier innings of tonight’s Cubs game and I was attempting to explain the rules of baseball to her. No luck. Hailey just kept asking who everyone was with questions and statements like:

“Is dat D Lee with the bat?”
“Where’s Zambrano? I like Zambrano.”
“Is dat Theriot?”

As a father, I couldn’t be prouder of that little girl even if she is now doomed to a lifetime of agony as a Cubs fan.
