Crucial Dudes are five dudes from Southern New Jersey and they play fast pop-punk with some gang vocals that give it a pop-core sorta feel, but this is definitely way more pop than it is hardcore, way. The vocalist is a dead ringer for Jeff from Mothermania. Seriously, at first I thought this could possibly a new band from him, but no. I’m really not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. Like every band in this approximate genre, there’s shades of New Found Glory in here, but also (think Jersey) early Saves The Day, and immaturity. It’s (maybe) comparable to Daggermouth or Transit. There’s also a cover of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” that’s actually pretty fun. You can download the entire EP for free at the band’s Myspace page (linked above). Rickrolling anyone?
