How was your weekend? Yeah, I know it’s Tuesday, but yesterday was a holiday ya know. So Amy and I headed down to Reggie’s on Sunday night for the once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity to see the one and only Mr. Ben Weasel take to the stage and let me tell you he did not disappoint.
Both Amy and I are huge Screeching Weasel fans, but Amy (who looks much younger than her years) has been (according to her) waiting over 15 years to see Mr. Weasel perform. In fact, when our relationship first became serious she told me that the only guy she would ever leave me for was Ben Weasel. Nuff said.
Anyhow, what do I need to say about the show? The Guts, The Leftovers, and Shot Baker opened but when Ben and his band took to the stage it was pandemonium. They played stuff from Ben’s newest solo album These Ones Are Bitter as well as classic tunes like “Dingbat,” “Science Of Myth,” “I Wanna Strangle You,” and so many more. He played a bunch of Riverdales songs too before ending with “Cool Kids” from Bark Like A Dog. It was amazing. (I didn’t bring a camera so I’ll get a few of Amy’s pictures up shortly).
And (as expected) the usual suspects were all there: Tim, Chris, Brian, Curley, and soon-to-be Mrs. Curley. But noticeably absent was Swanny. “Swanny where were you? I know you read this here blog on a regular basis so leave a comment and let us all know where you were on Sunday night? What could have possibly been more important than Ben Weasel?”
