Beard today or gone tomorrow

Yeah, I’m in the midst of full-on beard growth here. It hasn’t really been that long (3 weeks at most) but it’s looking pretty solid already. I know that the wife isn’t a huge beard fan but hey, when you feel like a beard you just gotta let it grow, right? Right on. So hopefully all y’all had a great and relaxing Labor Day weekend cuz it means that the summer (for all intents and purposes) is basically over. The days here in Chicago are getting noticeably shorter and the foliage is starting to change. And with that Hailey has been frequently asking, “Is the fall coming down? From the sky?” All I can answer is, “Yes, from the sky.”

We headed out to Naperville’s Last Fling over the weekend for some shitty overpriced festival food and got exactly that. We did manage to miss Styx and The Doobie Brothers but with the added bonus of heat, humidity, and crowds of suburbanites, perhaps the festival’s name should be changed to the “Lame Fling.”

Anyhow, my daughter spent the whole time wanting to play any/all of the fountains scattered throughout downtown Naperville and it was all we could do to keep only her feet in the water. We kept her out with the promise of lemonade and ice cream (but note the promise only and not the actual items themselves). Have I also mentioned that one of Hailey’s favorite jams lately has been Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds?” It is. She doesn’t (however) seem to like Iron Maiden, William Elliott Whitmore, Banner Pilot, Motorhead, and Inquisition very much, but that’s what I’ve been listening to lately. Oh well, someday.
