Austin Lucas – Somebody Loves You

How the shit have I not written about the new Austin Lucas record Somebody Loves You? I mean, really, how has this not happened? It is easily one of my favorite releases of 2009 so far. I mean, Austin’s sweet voice and his slowly wandering traditional county-folk arrangements are the perfect accompaniment for wasting away an evening with a bottle of whatever gets it done.

Most often sorrowful (in the way that all good country music is), Austin Lucas’ songs are straight from the heart. His wonderful acoustic guitar playing is often accompanied by tasteful fiddle and steel guitar but his vocals always remain the focal point of Somebody Loves You. Yet another great release from our friends at Suburban Home. RIYL: Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols, Earl Scruggs, etc…

Definitely agree on the vocals. There’s conviction and vulnerability in his voice.
