I happened across Arms Aloft and their four-song 2008 7” Comfort At Any Cost when I saw them open for Banner Pilot at Ronny’s in Chicago this past summer where I couldn’t really hear ‘em too well, but I can say with authority that this record is great. It’s the sort of music that I’d classify as pop punk but the gruff vocals and guitar interplay have shades of Hot Water Music in ‘em. It’s melodic and catchy as hell so I’d RIYL this with Off With Their Heads, Banner Pilot, None More Black, etc… The band calls Eau Claire, Wisconsin home (which is between Minneapolis and Chicago) and that’s kinda how this sounds. The record is out on Dead Format. Yeah, this is just good stuff that could just end up spinning over and over on my turntable.
