An Unexpected Bloody Mess

So yesterday afternoon I was standing at a Citgo gas station filling up what Hailey affectionately refers to as “blue car” when something caught my ear. In between ads for taquitos or coffee or something, I heard this song:

MP3 | The Decemberists – O Valencia

That sort of thing isn’t supposed to happen in the suburbs (or anywhere) is it? It was a little weird, but excellent. In less excellent news, according to punknews.org The Blood Brothers have broken up. If you didn’t know it, their last album Young Machetes is totally balls.

That’s kinda like when I heard the song “DUI” by Har Mar Superstar in a Jimmy John’s in downtown Indianapolis. It was me and lawyers sitting around listening to Har Mar going on about drunk dialing.

    bizarre.

I usually feel a pang of jealousy and a tinge of confusion in such a situation – that the space reserved for music i don’t care for has been swapped for music i do!
