What a gorgeous day here in Chicago; it’s in the upper 80′s with clear blue skies and a cool breeze blowing. Can’t be it. Here are a few songs that totally fit the mood today. It’s also a good excuse to listen to (and post about) some stuff that’s been sitting in my folder of stuff to listen to for almost 2 years now. Slacker, I know…
Never Shout Never is the alias used by Christofer Drew Ingle and on this song from The Summer EP he sounds like a cross between Justin Bieber and any number of lite radio-lite-mall-pop-punk bands that basically all sound the same. It’s a catchy little number that you can hear him singing on Warped Tour this summer. Radars To The Sky is an indie pop-rock band from Los Angeles that combines the dancey and melodic new wave of new wave with the silky smooth vocals of the Smiths. “Victoria” is from their 2007 Big Bang EP. Last American Buffalo plays rock music and also calls Los Angeles home. This wistful song, “Watch It Fall” is from their 2007 album Marquis For The Debutante. Birmingham, Alabama’s Wild Sweet Orange released a pretty good full-length in 2008 called We Have Cause To Be Uneasy that’s full of their brand of British-influenced indie rock meets slightly Southern rock. The Leap Year is an indie/post rock band from Perth, Australia. Good stuff, and who doesn’t like the Aussies?
Never Shout Never - I Just Laugh
Radars To The Sky - Victoria
Last American Buffalo - Watch It Fall
Wild Sweet Orange - Either/Or
The Leap Year - The Rational Anthem
