Age Sixteen – Open Up Finders, Please

Age Sixteen - Open Up Finders, PleaseI’ve heard the phrase, “If it’s too loud, you’re too old,” spoken many times, but I, now, might finally actually know what it means. Age Sixteen’s debut full length Open Up Finders, Please is packed full of chaotic but somewhat melodic screamo that is as intense as it is varied. The album’s 9 songs clock in at just over 20 minutes but there is so much variation crammed into those minutes, it seems significantly longer. What I’m trying to get at is that Open Up Finders, Please is anything but easy listening. It’s noisy and spastic with frequent awkward jumps in rhythm, tempo, and tone. Combine that with brutal and atonal screaming/wailing and you’ve got a downright intense (read: exhausting) listen. If you’re looking for music that sounds like a crazy combination of Ampere, Boy Problems, and (maybe) Elliott, look no further. Me, I just might be too old… maybe… or maybe not. Definitely not, this is good.
