A whole bunch of nothing

Lately it seems that instead of actually writing blog posts I’ve been wasting my time on Twitter and playing with various iPhone apps that I’ve been downloading like mad. Do you even know how many ridiculous music making apps there are out there? It is insane just how many there are. In-freaking-sane I tell you.

Even without those distractions, I’ve been in a bit of a blogging rut for the past few days/weeks/whatever. I’ve been listening to tons of music but just can’t find the right words. You know, “dancing about architecture,” etc, etc… I’m also beginning to realize that I won’t ever feel compelled to write about 95% of the stuff that is solicited to me. Ever. You know, boring indie rock records that are flavor-of-the-moment material at best. Out of the roughly 50-60 promo emails I get in a day’s time I probably read 3-4 of them. That’s not an exaggeration, but such is the life of a (cough!) critic, right?

Anyhow, the future will bring more podcasts, more kid stories, more album reviews, some best of ’08 lists, some holiday songs, and probably some stuff I didn’t forsee. Whatever. I think my new motto for the blog is going to be “fuck mediocrity.” It has a nice four-letter ring to it.
