Pop Punk Junk Vol. 13
The weather is getting warmer here in Chicago so what better opportunity for a little Pop Punk Junk. Classic songs from Apocalypse Hoboken, Not Rebecca, Parasites, and more. I also threw a little As Friends Rust in here. You can’t go wrong with that. MP3 from the 1992 album Kerplunk from the 2008 album Skip (Read more…)
Crucial Dudes – EP
Crucial Dudes are five dudes from Southern New Jersey and they play fast pop-punk with some gang vocals that give it a pop-core sorta feel, but this is definitely way more pop than it is hardcore, way. The vocalist is a dead ringer for Jeff from Mothermania. Seriously, at first I thought this could possibly (Read more…)
Can you hear the podcast from the Southside 06: back in the saddle (or) perhaps I need another drink
Yeah, I know… promises and more promises. I recorded the last one of these back in the fall of ’08 and said I’d be doing them more frequently way back then, but sometimes best laid plans… This time, I swear. Anyhow, here is what is officially episode 6 of the Can You See the Sunset (Read more…)
Richmond Fontaine – We Used To Think The Freeway Sounded Like A River

Sure, there are shades of the band I used to love, but this isn’t the same Alkaline trio that once (long ago) (Read more…)
500 Miles To Memphis – We’ve Built Up To Nothing
One of my absolute favorite albums of a few years ago is the incredible Sunshine In A Shot Glass from Cincinnati’s 500 Miles To Memphis. That album is overflowing with (quite possibly) the best and most energetic merging of country and punk rock I’ve ever heard. Even 500MTM singer Ryan Mallot’s EP with Kelly Thomas (Read more…)
Rocky Votolato / Josh Caterer – 2/26/10 @ Schubas
It was two Fridays ago when the Mrs. and I headed downtown to catch Rocky Votolato and Josh Caterer (of the Smoking Popes) live at Schubas. It was simply amazing. Josh opened and I felt like I was one of the only people singing along to every single word. It kinda sucked and struck me (Read more…)
