Pop Punk Junk Vol. 12
My baby is teething like crazy and sick so I’ve been back and forth between finishing this post and running upstairs to calm her down when she starts crying. What a day… MP3 from the 1996 album Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues from the 2000 album Travels With My Amp from the 2000 album Dead Ends (Read more…)
Pop Punk Junk Vol. 11
Wow! Has it really been over two months since I’ve posted on of these? I guess it has… I won’t make that mistake again. Another thing I don’t think I ever mentioned is that when I was in Allister, we played with the Wunder Years in (I think) Colorado Springs to about six people, but (Read more…)
Tom Stormy Trio – Respect For The ’50s
Every once in awhile I’m completely surprised by this blog. I mean, things are never dull with two kids at home, but occasionally this blog just leaves me scratching my head. For example, I never thought that I would ever review a Hungarian rockabilly group, but, folks, that day has come. The Tom Stormy Trio (Read more…)
Native – We Delete; Erase EP
Yeah, so Native just released their debut full-length, Wrestling Moves on Sargent House, but this isn’t a review of that record. I could never be that “with it” or “in the know.” Nope. Even so, let me just state that it actually a somewhat entertaining listen. So (Read more…)
RVIVR – Life Moves 7″
Wow! This is one of the best things I’ve heard in, well, forever… On their (now sold out) Life Moves 7”, RVIVR plays the kind of raw and scruffy basement shit-pop-punk that I grew up listening to and I can’t get enough of it. The fact that there are male and female vocals make this (Read more…)
Rumspringer – Rumspringer EP
Rumspringer is a band from Tempe, Arizona who sounds like they could be from anywhere but there. I love this EP. Their brand of good old fashioned pop punk is as awesome as it is imperfect. Their Rumspringer EP is simply amazing and needs to heard. The vocals are scratchy without being gruff perfectly matchy (Read more…)
Hill Country Revue – Hill Country Revue
So I’ve never been a huge North Mississippi All-Stars fan and I can’t really tell you why, but after hearing Make A Move, the studio debut from Hill Country Revue, I might just have to listen a little harder. With Luther Dickinson playing guitar in The Black Crowes now, his brother Cody took some of (Read more…)
