Do you like rock and roll? You know, dirty garage rock that oozes raw combustibility. If that's the case, you might like this band. Kill Gordon hails from the ATL and knows how to rock. It is also pretty obvious that frontman Kyle Gordon would probably name The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, and The Who as big influences. And while the band is a little rough around the edges and sometimes unfocused, they make up for that tenfold in heart.
Their self-titled album is full of (mostly) mid-tempo rockers with a few acoustic songs sprinkled throughout that recall the MC5 and The Stooges but that aren't breaking any new musical ground. Despite some killer riffs and lock-step grooves, Kill Gordon doesn't often enough (IMHO) put the pedal to the metal and tear through their material with reckless abandon. And while I can only imagine that the band ratchets up the tempo in a live setting, the album just seems a little too safe. Yeah its good, but what if they turned it up to eleven?
