Damn those dirty punks -

For some reason I really like a lot of crappy punk rock bands. You know, the bands that can barely play their instruments and recorded their record in a basement with one microphone hanging from the ceiling kind of punk rock. The Falcon is one of those bands. The Falcon is comprised of Brendan (ex-Slapstick, The Broadways, and current member of Lawrence Arms), Dan (ex-Slapstick, Tuesday, and current member of Alkaline Trio), Neil (ex-Baxter, current member of Lawrence Arms), and Todd (ex-Rise Against). They pretty much suck (but in a really good way.) If you like FYP, Crimpshrine, Jawbreaker, etc... you might take a liking to this Chicago supergroup.

In other news I have been feeling our little baby kick up a storm in the last few days. It is amazing to finally be able to "feel" something. She was kicking (or punching) Amy like crazy last night so I decided to talk to her in an attempt to calm her down. She seemed to respond to my voice and my singing her a little song. Fucking incredible I must say. She is gonna be adorable.

I also always find myself wondering what music she will like when she gets older. Do any other hip (not saying that I am) parents wonder about this conerning their own children?

it's great that you're talking to her, she'll know your voice early on. nothing like seeing her turn to find your voice when she's just a wee babe.
i pretty much have decided to be a-ok with what ever violet wants to do. if that's cheerleading and boybands, i'm gonna have to grit my teeth and be supportive....but god i hope that's not the case.

boo, you have this amazing ability to calm her down, as well as "wake" her up! she's totally going to be a daddy's girl.

st: someone mentioned "cheerleading" today at my prenatal water aerobics class and i shuddered at the thought...but you're right, that may just be her calling. YIKES!

i'm still upset that my six-year-old son's favorite song is "The Green Fields of France" by the Dropkick Murphy's.....I feel like a failure as a mother. But, I guess one can't force good taste on one's children.

Gillian likes hip hop. I tried to get her into Nick Drake, Van Morrison, you know...puss/folk rock. She likes it when we keep the beat goin'! Oh well! We have to ween her off it now because of the curse words. She is really trying to talk now.

i think they do like the beat at this age. violet laughs everytime she hears "back in black" that concerns me.

Speaking of dirty punks. Were you ever a fan of Fifteen? I'm thinking about dragging them out for tomorrow's Flashback post. - Mallie

Mallie - Fifteen was soooo great. Surprise and Extra Medium Kickball Star are favorites of mine.

CBT & SV - I definately think that "beats" or more rhythmic music might have an instant appeal to kids and people of all ages. Banging on things is one of the first musical (maybe) things kids do.

Tatgoddess - You could easily do worse than the Dropkick Murphy's. Be glad with what you have.

No way any daughter of mine is gonna be a cheerleader. Nope.

banging on things, yep. the toilet lid is a favorite...yuck. we're learning to keep the bathroom door closed.

one of my favorite movies is on right now, "bring it on". i'll have to watch it now, before i cant anymore. at least there's a cool kid in the movie that digs the clash. i just laugh at the cheerleaders, it's over the top.
